Self-Will or Willingness?

I designed this instructor-led training for use in substance use treatment groups for adults. This design was intended for in-person instruction. The components include

This ILT was adapted into a microlearning course for use with individual clients in private therapy.

Job Aids

A job aid is typically a printable or digital document that makes a task easier without requiring a full training. Examples of jobs aids are workbooks, checklists, infographics, and facilitator guides.

Group Therapy Booklet: Making the Most of Process Groups

Let's face it: Process groups can often turn into hour-long gripe sessions. Guidelines keep process groups focused and productive. This job aid was designed to help facilitators give group participants the tools to get the most out of therapy during a process group. The guidelines in this job aid can be used for any group therapy topic.

Course Title

Emotional Support Animal Continuing Education Training and Templates: The Mental Health Practitioner’s Guide to ESA Evaluations and Accommodation Letters

Context

The mental health industry is rife with misunderstandings about the legal and ethical implications and risks of writing emotional support animal accommodation letters. Though there exist several courses on the topic, there was need for an attorney-reviewed course that combines training on dos and donts, an updated review of the professional literature, a discussion of best practices based on federal and state regulations, recommendations on how to protect one’s professional license, an attorney-reviewed letter template, customizable done-for-you client-facing documents and forms, interactive assessments with real-world clinicial scenarios, and supplemental live instructor support.

Challenge

The training and toolkit needed to provide learners with high value, convenience, feedback, and lifetime access. Learning materials needed to be accessible to clients on a variety of devices and accessible to those with disabilities who use assistive technologies.

Solution

A thorough, engaging, on-demand training designed to be self-paced, interactive, and accessible, with a robust, editable toolkit and 1:1 live support.

Result

A web-based, value-packed, attorney-reviewed training for mental health professionals on how to write emotional support animal letters legally and ethically that offers 3.75 NBCC continuing education credit hours and includes a comprehensive toolkit so practitioners can start providing this service immediately.

Screening for Fit

Context

The Michelle Robin Gould Corporation provides teletherapy to counseling clients who are located in the state of Florida at the time of service. Since teletherapy is delivered entirely online, it is important for clients to know if teletherapy is the right fit for them. This is a client-facing course and does not offer continuing education credit.

Challenge

Potential therapy clients may be unfamiliar with the technologies and challenges inherent in receiving online therapy. Support materials must be accessible to clients on a variety of devices and should be accessible to those with disabilities who use assistive technologies.

Solution

A microlearning e-course that outlines the features of teletherapy, including technologies, safety precautions, risks, rule-outs, and additional information.

Result

A brief screening tool that can be self-administered at will presents an engaging and informative opportunity to aid potential clients in deciding whether to proceed with teletherapy.
